I am starting a consulting company and will be the only employee, any other work may be contracted out. Is it better to start an LLC or Corp.?

    corp!!!
There are certain tax breaks that are available to u that arent there for an LLC.
It wasnt so long ago that i was starting out as u are. The insurance is expensive, but i have never heard of an energy co. suing the consultant

I did the LLC but it does limit you on what actions you can do a business. It all depends on what type of services you are going to provide your clients. Also check around your area and find out what the same types of businesses are doing in the area. Good Luck on the new venture.

    Incorporate in your home state.
